Through the Caring Hands program we encourage our employees to volunteer in their local communities and help make a significant difference through group activities, disaster relief fundraising and financial contributions. Our goals are to generate visibility for our partner organizations, improve team building across Siemens U.S. and strengthen the ties we have with our communities.
Workplace Giving Campaign
Our employees can opt to make donations to their choice of not-for-profit organizations through an annual payroll deduction. Siemens U.S. matches $0.50 for every dollar donated to selected organizations. In 2012 we raised nearly $1 million.
American Cancer Society Partnership
Siemens U.S. is a national sponsor of the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. Our employees walk in cities nationwide and raise over $150,000 annually to support breast cancer awareness and research.
We sponsor employee fundraising drives in response to local, national and global disasters. In addition to financial assistance, we coordinate our global teams to deliver aid in the form of products, services and supplies to disaster victims. Within a month of Hurricane Sandy's destruction of the eastern coast of the U.S., our employees had raised nearly $200,000 for the relief effort. In response to the earthquakes that struck Haiti in 2010, Siemens donated over $1 million to the American Red Cross.
